“Do what you can, with what you have, where you are.” – Teddy Roosevelt
We are all here on this earth for just a brief shining moment. What we do with that time is up to us and quite frankly, will only really be known and appreciated by our families, our co-workers, and those that we touch daily. In fact, two generations from now most people will not even remember our names. So, our time is now, and it is most precious.
Oh yes, our kids will tell tall tales of our deeds to our grandkids and create perhaps legends of us as fathers, mothers, role models and even heroes. They, and perhaps a few friends, will also tell of how our actions impacted the lives of others in a positive way (hopefully). However, in the end, most of us will not be in the history books, but just a name on a family tree… remembered by just a few and then no one.
Do I have your attention 🙂
The Roosevelt quote is just a reminder to spread your light upon those you love, those you work with and share “you”. Be a game changer, a life leader, an impact player with all those in your community of interest and maybe you won’t get into the history books, but you will make a difference in your lifetime, and you will leave a legacy of love, accomplishment, and self-worth. I for one will take that right now.
DO WHAT YOU CAN
What can we do? First, I would look in the mirror, as that person DOES NOT LIE. We can ask ourselves, what we can do better? What can we improve upon? How can we make things better for others? How can we make the mission more successful? How can we improve professionally, personally, and socially?
WITH WHAT YOU HAVE
Self-realization is a massive step for most people. Some people never achieve that and are always searching for that elusive key to life. Some people die, never having realized who they were and what they could have done. Webster defines self-realization as the fulfillment by oneself of the possibilities of one’s character or personality. Isn’t that an awesome statement …fulfillment by oneself. We have what we have, we’re good at what we’re good at. Others have different gifts. So, let’s be the best at what we do and respect others for what they do. The best way to live life is just give your gift.
WHERE YOU ARE
You are here. You are Spartans Defending the Gates of Freedom. What a great place we are in. You are with me, and I am with you. We care about each other and always have each other’s best interest at heart. We have a unique opportunity to live with like-minded people, focused on a common purpose to protect this country and make it a better place. Few other companies operate like us; we all care, and we all remain unconquered in our convictions.
I am proud of you all for so many great things that you do. Although we may only be known personally for a couple of generations…I hope we can all say that “We did what we could, with what we had, where we were!”
God Bless and Remain Unconquered,
Jim
