Joy Doll Hospital, Inc. was founded in 2019 by a young girl from Stafford County, VA, who had a unique vision: to restore and gift American Girl dolls to children in need. She began by collecting old and damaged dolls from thrift stores, auctions, and donations, lovingly repairing and dressing them before gifting them to children experiencing difficult times. These dolls have brought joy and comfort to children in foster care, group homes, and those impacted by crises around the world. Her work quickly caught the attention of the community, as it is a heartwarming example of how small efforts can make a huge difference in the lives of others.
Invictus’ Executive Director of Cyber Engineering, Luke Frank, first learned of her efforts through a local newspaper article, and it resonated deeply with him. Luke’s wife had always encouraged him to seek out ways to make the world a better place, and with her urging, he reached out and made his first donation to Joy Doll Hospital. Over the next few months, the founder stayed in touch with him, sharing updates on her progress and growth. As her efforts expanded, he assisted her in establishing the organization as a 501(c)(3) non-profit, creating a website, and eventually Luke was invited to join the board of directors. Over the past four years, Joy Doll Hospital has been able to restore and gift hundreds of dolls to children not only in the U.S. but also those displaced by the war in Ukraine. Now they are turning their attention to those affected by Hurricane Helene in North Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia.
Most recently, Luke was able to be part of the Most Royal Princess Celebration, a special event aimed at raising funds for Joy Doll Hospital ahead of the holiday season. Through a $1,500 donation from Invictus, the event became a memorable day filled with games, performances by famous princesses, prize raffles, and plenty of family fun. The support helped ensure that Joy Doll Hospital can meet its gifting goals this year, bringing hope and happiness to more children in crisis.
